Sunday Coffee and Dracula in Love Giveaway

Good morning, Gentle Readers.  It has been a fun reading week at Bibliophiliac.  I have been converted to the delights of YA reading.  About time!  After all, I do teach high school English.  I will be reading more YA, but still reading predominantly literary fiction and classics.  It has been really fun to talk enthusiastically about books like Leaving Paradise with my students.  If I am going to achieve my secret take-over-the-world mission and Make Every Kid a Lifelong Reader we have to have these conversations--and it's fun!

I just finished Jess Walter's The Financial Lives of Poets for TLC Book Tours. My post will appear on Tuesday, September 21st.

I just started reading The Reapers are the Angels by Alden Bell--so far a page-turner.  My first zombie book!

I finished reading Foreign Bodies by Cynthia Ozick, and will post my review next week.
The Dracula in Love Giveaway

This week I'm hosting a giveaway of Dracula in Love by Karen Essex.  Doubleday is providing the giveaway books, and for that reason the giveaway is limited to the U.S.  All you need to do to enter the giveaway is leave a comment and tell me what you think of vampire novels.  Have you read Bram Stoker's Dracula?  Essex's novel is a kind of feminist revision of Stoker's novel.  I've seen lots of conversation on the intersphere about vampires in books--some bloggers think the whole thing is overdone, while others just can't get enough.  Personally, I am open to nearly any topic or subject if a book is well-written.  Here is my review of Dracula in Love.

If you've been wanting to read Dracula in Love, now is your chance to get a copy.  There are two copies up for grabs, thanks to Judy Jacoby of Doubleday.

Good morning!

I would love to receive a copy of Dracula in Love. I did read the original Dracula a few years ago (pre-blog) and loved it.

I'm not as into the genre of vampires as some other readers out there - but I certainly love a good vampire book!

Morning! Enter me please. I finally read the original Dracula this fall, and I'm reading The Historian for a readalong now. Loved The Passage, too, but not a vampire novel in the same sense.

I think the vampire thing is getting a bit out of hand, but that doesn't stop me from reading them. I don't mind as long as it is interesting and well-written.

I have a recommendation for a YA book for your class: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. I just finished it last night and posted my review this morning.

Please enter me in your giveaway!

I would love to get this just watche Bram Stoker's Dracula, so I'm very much in the mood for more Dracula. I have yet to read Dracula but love me some vamp books recently have been into Vampire Academy, and a fan of the Sookie Stackhouse series! Vampire books are fun but I've always been drawn to the supernatural!

Except for Twilight (and half of the second in the series - the name of which escapes me) I've never read anything vampire - although I enjoy being frightened out of my wits on a dark, rainy evening. Please enter me.

Welcome to the wonderful world of YA lit! I'm a fairly recent convert myself lol. It seems like it just keeps getting better, so maybe that's why =) There have been a lot of really great ones lately. The DUFF by Kody Keplinger is one that immediately comes to mind. Then of course there are staples like Sarah Dessen - have you read any of hers? I adore her! =)

Thanks so much for hopping by my blog!
