This award is one I had tucked away for safekeeping way back on May 12th. Like many other things I put away, I misplaced this award for a little bit. Then Priya posted about the Premio Dardos Award from Book Quoter that she had misplaced, and I heard a faint ringing noise faraway in my brain....I think that was right around the time 3rd quarter grades were due, and I was buried under folders full of papers....

Somehow I know that Book Quoter will forgive me, because her blog just exudes an air of graciousness. Book Quoter has a goal of reading a thousand great books and posting quotes from each books. Right now she has just finished number 57 (My Antonia). In her spare time she is a pediatrician! And she makes stuff with plarn! An all-around accomplished woman, in my opinion....

Have you noticed how much a blogger's personality, tone, and voice comes through, even in a book blog? That's why I like these awards--they're so friendly--and they give me an opportunity to highlight the many different types of book blogs I have come across. Each one of the blogs above has a distinctive tone or voice, and each writer has a slightly different perspective on books and the reading life. Some of the blogs in the list have a couple of dozen followers, and some have hundreds. By the way, when I can I like to highlight a blog which deserves a little more attention, and when I run across a blog with fewer than fifty followers, I have a tendency to follow that blog--does anyone else like to do this? Granted, I don't follow a blog just for the sake of adding to the list of followers (say, if it focuses on a genre I don't read much) but it does seem like a friendly gesture.

So: a belated thanks to Book Quoter, and congratulations to all the Premios Dardos Award winners!

I just got home from my Book Club meeting (my favorite night of the month) and found this. This day couldn't get any more perfect!
Thank you so very much. I find writing about books so satisfying and so much fun that I almost feel I should have to pay for the privilege. Getting to know other
bloggers and discovering so many great books I would have missed otherwise is icing on the cake. To get an award from a blogger I admire on top of all that is such an encouragement. Thanks!
