Book Blogger Hop June 4-7

My work here is nearly done; no, I'm not talking about blogging but my alternate existence as a teacher.  Last night was our graduation, and for the first time since our school opened six years ago, we were rained on.  Now I know how my colleagues look when they get out of the shower!  After our soggy ceremony I went to a dinner hosted by the family of one of my graduates.  All I can say is that if every family were like this, teaching would truly be a dream job, and we would be living in a very different world.  This family invited all of the teachers to dinner at a local restaurant, where they thanked us and honored us for educating their son.  Our student gave a little speech thanking each of the teachers individually, and at the end of the evening the mom told a few cute stories about what our student was like as a little boy.  This is a lovely family, who raised a courteous and honorable son and daughter, and it was a tremendously nice way to spend graduation night (even if I was still damp when I got home at 9:30 last night!).

So today I'm feeling great, if a little tired.  If you are visiting on the Book Blog Hop, welcome.  Bibliophiliac is my blog:  I write about books and the reading life, and sometimes about my life as a teacher.  I'm a passionate and voracious reader, and it all comes back to books for me.  Of course I gave my student a bookstore gift card as a graduation gift!

Thanks to Jennifer at Crazy for Books for hosting the blog hop--I have found so may wonderful book blogs to follow through her auspices.

Job well done! Hope you get to enjoy at least part of your summer (although I know teachers really do work all years round. If they arent' teaching, they're planning).

I just became a follower. Thanks for stopping by my blog as well. We do have a lot in common. What do you teach? I teach Social Studies at a inner city high school. I rarely get any thanks from parents or students. I wish more people would take time to appreciate their teachers. It is a very demanding job, physicall and emotionally. Have a great day!
