I've been reading like a fiend. My students would say I've been "fiending" for books. Apparently, anything can be a verb these days. I wonder what that means for our culture? Since the school year ended I've read The Passage, The Hunger Games, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and have started reading Columbine. I'll be posting my response to the first two books from Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy tomorrow. Columbine is tough going, very readable and compelling, but hard to take.
I haven't only been reading; nearly every evening my husband and I take a walk on the beach, or just go stare at the water. Last week I had my first close encounter with a manatee: it was magical. Last night we watched the sun set, and walked along the beach while dolphins swam alongside us in their slow, graceful arcs.

You have been getting a lot of reading done! Wish I could say I've been "fiending" books--one thing or another keeps getting in my way from really finding great chunks of time to read. Walks on the beach sound heavenly!
@Lisa-Having time off from work is the clincher! And walks on the beach are heavenly indeed!
