Book Blogger Hop July 2-5

Welcome to Bibliophiliac.  My name is Lisa, and I am a passionate, voracious reader.  I didn't know anything about blogging a year ago when I first took a class at my school district's Summer Institute about using technology in the classroom.  One of the topics in the class was creating a blog, and I logged into blogger.com and created a blog that day.  I  still didn't know much about the blogging community, but during that summer I think I created one post (about rereading Middlemarch).  It wasn't until Christmas break the following school year that I finally started posting on a regular basis; then I somehow tripped over the Crazy-for-Books Book Blogger Hop and actually got some followers.  Until then I was just writing a "secret blog" and really had just one reader (bless you, Tom).

I have a profound case of bibliophilia, and perhaps a rather severe case of hypergraphia as well.  Writing a book blog has had a palliative effect on these harmless predilections.  Book bloggers are the kindest people in the world, and I feel so fortunate to have stumbled into this world:  it is like a gigantic virtual library, filled with passionate readers who love to talk about books.

If you are visiting from the blog hop, please leave a comment; I return all visits.  I look forward to discovering more wonderful blogs this weekend!

Hey Lisa, thanks for stopping by my blog. After reading your review of the passage I really want to read it now. There was this article about it in one of our main newspapers the other day apparently he got paid some ridiculously huge amount for the trilogy and the film rights have already been sold.

I've been wanting to read Middlemarch and The Passage. I see you've read one and have the other on your summer read list. And I agree with you about book bloggers. They are a wonderful, supportive bunch. I'm very interested to hear how you like Wolf Hall. It's written in a strange tense that took me awhile to get used to - but I did. Have a great holiday weekend.

Hi Lisa,
Your story of how you got started is the best I've read so far! I too started out with a secret reader before I was brave enough to blog for real!
Have a great weekend,

Hey there, thanks for hopping by today! I loved your review of The Passage! And thanks for comparing it to another book, The Road. I always find that helpful though I have trouble doing so myself. I guess I feel my reads are few and I can't think of a good comparision. Anywho, Happy Fourth of July!

The book blogging community is amazing! I lurked a few months before jumping in. But it's a great place, and I'm glad I did.

4th of July weekend was a great one for visits, blog hopping, and comments! Meanwhile, I spent the weekend with my daughter (haven't seen her in a year!). She is finally returning to home territory (and starting grad school-yay!). Thanks to everyone for your hops, visits, and comments....
