But when a seminar goes well I am on cloud 9. An overemphasis on grades just seems to lead to cheating, plagiarism, and the total loss of any idea of learning for the sake of learning....bibliophiliachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15495943887513443615noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-236334828969414641.post-33160184325008581202012-02-26T16:48:49.142-08:002012-02-26T16:48:49.142-08:00My start to our winter term has felt exactly the s...My start to our winter term has felt exactly the same...overwhelming. I agree with you about grading. I think about it's pointlessness more and more the longer I teach. Mostly I think, how can I motivate students to do the work that is required for them to learn some important things without having to grade them? And I have some freedom about that teaching at a private college. Lately I've started doing oral exams, and it seems the process they go through to get ready for the exam teaches them a great deal. After that, the grade is kind of extraneous.Robyn Rylehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07510195754917893035noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-236334828969414641.post-40000387686064732832012-02-22T19:18:24.536-08:002012-02-22T19:18:24.536-08:00@bermudaonion-I can dream of a world without grade...@bermudaonion-I can dream of a world without grades!
