Even while we're admiring him for being a father that sets such a wonderful example, he is also a father who doesn't seem in the least capable of actually taking care of his children's day to day needs.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05554217416500328610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-236334828969414641.post-83928192012181882022015-07-20T09:39:27.573-07:002015-07-20T09:39:27.573-07:00@JoAnn-Thanks! In the meantime, I'll check out some of the titles you've mentioned here.JoAnnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13691864361197071517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-236334828969414641.post-51978957403848797042015-07-15T08:43:23.098-07:002015-07-15T08:43:23.098-07:00@Leah-Thanks so much for your comments! Listening to the words of people of color, who have experienced racism their whole lives, is far more important. You're totally right about Tom being more a symbol than a fully realized character in this book, which I hadn't really thought about. I wonder if this book could serve as a jumping-off point to get people to want to learn more? The recommendations you shared are fantastic.Leah @ Books Speak Volumeshttp://booksspeakvolumes.comnoreply@blogger.com
